art.illery are the rants and musings of artist/organizer, lainerz. this blog will be regularly updated with glimpses into my sketchbook and works in progress, but will be also used a platform to sort through and process the adventure that is my life as an immigrant.
why art.illery? art, when used with purpose, can transcend beyond aesthetics. it can arouse, inspire, educate, propagate, agitate, and empower (to name a few). it can transform culture as we know it, a powerful weapon in any fight for liberation. now that’s ill!
lainerz was born and raised in quezon city, manila and immigrated to the united states in 1993 at the age of 9. much of who she is and what she does now has been directly influenced by living as an undocumented immigrant for 17+ years. proud of her culture, heritage, and struggle, lainerz creates art that speaks to the under represented stories and strengths of the filipino people. she believes that art is a tool and medium that we can use to transform the world. lainerz currently resides in the bay area, and organizes with GABRIELA USA and the Filipino Community Center.
